Snow and high winds have brought chaos to Saddleworth during the night and are continuing to do so throughout the day.
Saddleworth News has been out and about from early this morning and have been reporting via Twitter to our followers. Although most villages have been passable with care it has been a different story when trying to get over the top to Oldham, Huddersfield and Holmfirth.
Overnight strong winds have brought down tree branches and trees, Delph Primary School had part of a tree land on the pavement outside the entrance, there are no reports of any injuries to passers-by. It is a similar scene at Grains Bar.
We also have a report of a tree blocking a road in Grotton.
Many motorists have been stranded in their vehicles whilst travelling towards the M62 at Denshaw, similar scenes repeated on the roads to Huddersfield and Holmfirth, even with snow warning lights flashing, drivers are still attempting to pass over these routes. We assisted a few stranded motorists and conditions can only be described as are treacherous with large drifts forming.
Editor Stuart Littleford, has been reporting on the weather for radio station, Key 103, he said: “There are a lot of people stuck in their cars and the snow is drifting badly on the high routes out of Saddleworth, the gale force winds are creating a real problem.
“There is a real danger from falling branches some large enough to cause serious injury, these are strewn along the pavements, pedestrians must be really careful.”
At the time of this report most roads are open except for the following; A62 to Huddersfield, A635 to Holmfirth and Ripponden Road over Denshaw, to the M62 motorway are all blocked.

I saw that Aaron, but I was lying down at the time, so maybe it just looked like it was on its side.
It picked up our 10×12 shed and pushed it off its plinth, the hedge was the only thing that stopped it. Now I have to figure out how to get it back on. My shed now has its own diving board in Scouthead’s smallest Lido.
